1Beware of PNY TechnologiesFeb 01, 2005
By Origin Designs Ron Heikes "ORIGIN"
This is my 2nd PNY Technologies Video Card. The first card was a Quadro 4 980 XGL. It performed absolutely fine and was at a great price point up until 2 1/2 years into the card. At this time one of the dual DVI outputs died. So I moved over to using the (2) VGA outputs. This held for 5 months where upon one of these died. Finally the other died a month later. So this year for Xmass I thought I'd go full bore and purchase the PNY Nvidia FX3000. I'm using a CAD program called ArchiCAD and it's not designed for this therefore it's NOT WORTH the extra $800. Nor is this card INTENDED for GAMERS like the review before so this is absolutely a waste of money as far as that's concerned. There are plenty of other cards DEDICATED to gaming at a much better price point. But I expect that if you think you spent the most you'll get the most. NOT SO!! Anyway, back to the point and that is that this new cards dual DVI failed right out of the box. A very reputable computer company in Silicon Valley tested the card on my machine and on their machines and in fact one of the DVI outputs was DEAD. I went to VGA and within a week I lost one of these also. I've tried to call PNY but NO ANSWER. I went to their website however there is ABSOLUTELY NO EMAIL ADDRESS. They are virtually uncontactable. This is deplorable support. I trust that Nvidia makes the finest cards however I caution anybuyer that uses PNY as the producer of this graphics card.

5PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 works great under Linux!Aug 05, 2011
By Edwin H. Kribbs
I run Slackware Linux and use the PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 for the display. I have never ever had any problems with this video card. Monitors have come and gone, but this card is still working (for years). Among other things, I use this video card in my Linux box for watching movies. I run the Quadro FX 3000 at 2560x1600 resolution (max res is 3840x2400) to drive an HP LP3065 30" LCD monitor. For high definition, in a close-up shot, you can see and almost count the pores on a person's face. Anyway, the Quadro FX 3000 is just GREAT for this application. It is meant to be used for graphics work, but NOT for gaming. It may be too slow for that. Beware this is an AGP card, so you folks who have an old AGP motherboard are in luck. As this card is old production, it is cheap, as AGP is being phased out. If you have an AGP motherboard, and can find this card, snap it up! For Linux, download and install the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.30-pkg1.run installation package to get the maximum performance out of this card. Read the README file on the same download page where you find the installation package for installation instructions.

3PNY ReliabilityMar 13, 2005

My 980 which I have had for a short time first lost one DVI output, and then the other. The 750 I have had for several years is still running. After reading the difficulties other Amazon customers have had in getting support, I am going with ATI, who made the card for my custom high performance laptop.
