This garage door opener is a Piece of Sh*t!!! Do not buy this product. It wouldn't open my garage door unless I was sitting right in front of it and the remote broke after only 1 month due to poor materials used to make it. I repeat DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

Maybe 100 inches...Jul 20, 2004
This remote has nowhere near a 100 foot range. Even if I had my car inched away from the garage door it wouldn't open with any certtainty. Definitely not worth buying.

Buyer BewareNov 22, 2011
By Michael J Campbell While the Skylink G6VR seemed like a great and affordable replacement for my remote as it was cheaper than just buying a replacement remote and receiver I soon found out that sometimes you get what you pay for.
This product is cheaply produced, buggy in it's operation, unreliable and is just an all around bad product. It only works 10% of the time, and when it does work it would open and close the door with a single push of the remote not allowing enough time to get into the garage. After 2 days of only working maybe 10% of the time it stopped working all together. Thinking I had just received a bad unit I ordered a replacement and the replacement was just as bad.
For all prospective buyers please read the reviews and avoid this product.

Works like a charm!Feb 27, 2011
By Kendra Young We recently bought a house that was built 20 years ago. All the appliances are original, including the garage door opener. Boy were we surprised to find out that the garage door opener would only respond to the wired pushbutton inside the garage. Neither of the two "clickers" we had would activate it at all. This wasn't much of a problem until Kansas City decided to turn into a winter wonderland this season. My husband finally got sick of going through the house with snow-covered boots to open the garage door from the inside.
He chanced upon this product at Ace Hardware, and grabbed it on sale for $20. We got home and he went to work. Before I had the groceries brought in, he had it installed and tested. He said that it was as simple as connecting two wires, and mounting it with two screws.
It works flawlessly!
I can open and close my garage door from the street (well over 100 feet from the garage), and I have not had one single problem with the system so far.
I would highly recommend this to anyone out there in a similar situation.

Great replacement for older garage doorsJun 13, 2009
By K. Bishop The remote for my grandmother's garage door has been failing for a long time and I saw this item on clearance at Radio Shack so I decided to give it a try. This replaced the button just inside the door and came with one remote.
Pros: Install took about 5 minutes and voila... the garage door opened. I went back to the store and bought two more, one with a remote and one with a keypad... range for me is at least 150' as I can activate it almost from the end of my driveway (about 250' long). Since it was on clearance, 3 remotes with receivers/buttons cost me $17 so it was a serious steal. Contrary to what others have said, the receiver isn't cheap feeling but the styling could be a little better - that's subjective though. Pressing the button on the receiver feels kind of like clicking the top of an open snapple bottle. Remotes don't feel as sturdy as the receiver does and the metal clip feels like you are going to break the plastic when you assemble it. (but I didn't on either remote).
Cons: the one receiver failed on me (got hot to the touch and since my garage door only puts out 1V, I decided to replace it). Since I had extras, I just swapped them out - (opened it up and the circuit board had noticable failure points in the middle and my wife said it smelled hot looks like a bad circuit board). Antenna style could probably be a little better (just a piece of coiled up wire).
