5Perfect!Aug 20, 2008
By Eric Balkan
Just had this monitor for a day, but I can already see it's a huge improvement over the Samsung Syncmaster 17 I was using before. The image is very clear and bright, and seems easier on the eyes. I'm using it in the native 1440x900 mode. (Other mode choices that are not 1.6:1 produce a stretched or narrowed image.) One point that's not obvious, unless you read the instructions on the CD, lol, is that you need to press the autoset button after changing modes, to sync the monitor up to the signal, otherwise it's a little off. Picture looks excellent for text, graphics, and video. I'm not a game player, so haven't tried that.

4A Great Value...Aug 26, 2009
By Allen Whitaker
I purchased this item as a replacement for a 19" 1280x1024 monitor which was twice as expensive and developed a malfunction in its power switch. I ordered this item from [...] via the amazon.com website. Amazon listed the price from Tiger and Amazon simultaneously which made it easy to determine the slightly better price from Tiger.

The item arrived within three days of placing the order in pristine condition. The packaging was well designed and easy to unpack. Setup took only a few minutes and the factory supplied video driver CD included in the box installed without a problem.

The performance of this monitor overall is excellent, especially at such a low price point. The color saturation and sharpness are strikingly good. I shopped online for quite some time trying to locate a monitor with both a high contrast ratio and fast response time. Since I am a gamer, fast response time is a must, and this monitor has the fastest response time in this price range that I could find. The brightness of this monitor is very high, and it takes some getting used to. Leaving the brightness setting at 50% (default) setting and raising the contrast to 70% seems to provide the best balance for my eyes. Not having to make any other changes, I have limited experience with the other adjustments available via push buttons on the left hand side underneath the bezel.

My only, slightly negative feed back concerns the monitor's base/stand. The base seems slightly larger than it needs to be, and if, like me you have a limited amount of desktop space, the circular base leaves a rather large footprint on my desk.

Customer support from LG seems to be good as they have contacted me via e-mail after registering the monitor with them, making sure I'm happy with my purchase.

I highly recommend this monitor... It has great performance and a great price. It is a great value.

5Must use DVI connectionApr 02, 2009
By J. Winston
Initially I had the monitor connected via its VGA port, and the image was blurry no matter what resolution I set it to.

My graphics card didn't have DVI, so I bought an nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (for ~$30), and swapped it in. With the digital signal at the W1952TQ's native resolution of 1440x900, the image is gorgeous. The nVIDIA drivers & nView handle all the color adjustments (though I didn't find any were necessary), so LG's forteManager isn't necessary.

This is a very nice monitor for the price (~$160 at BestBuy).

5Great monitorApr 30, 2009
By Game Guy "Game Guy"
Got the monitor from Best Buy but I had to return it since the screen itself had been damaged during shipping. The replacement was working just fine. It took all of about ten minutes to set up. I didn't bother with the instructions at all. The plastic stand was a bit odd to figure out. I had to reduce both brightness and contrast quite a bit before I could actually work with the screen. Once done with that business, the screen looked really good. The picture is clean and sharp in the suggested 14400x900 resolution. The others really are not adequate settings (but then who cares?) Colors are awesome. I got mine for $139, and wonder why I waited so long to get rid of my old CRT monitor.
