my stock budget pc came with awesome specs for $350. but even with the 2.7gh pentium dual core processor and 4gigs of ram and a front side bus of 800, it still slowed down during heavy operations. that always kind of bothered me, for two years, until it occurred to me to check out the power supply. my stock pc came with a 250w power supply. so i swapped it out with this one and it is now quieter and runs noticeably more smoothly. this is a worthy investment. and it fits older motherboards as well as newer ones.
a friend said he never owns anything with less than a 500w power supply. but he's also working on an engineering degree and is sitting on two masters degrees in math. he uses a lot of huge programs that take a lot of processing power. but for a basic home computer with which you play games and surf the net and edit and trans code home movies and save your pictures and whatnot, a 400w power supply is more than ample. and i recommend this one because it's the one that i'm using.

I purchased this power supply to replace a potentially dead power supply. Turned out the problem was elsewhere so I used it in the creation of a new system instead. I like the fact that it has multiple connectors and adaptors enabling it to replace older power supplies as well as work with the newest motherboards.
Good product, good price.Sep 03, 2010
By BJK I purchased this item after upgrading an old system with a video card which required more power than the existing power supply had.
This power supply was easy to install and works fine. No issues after several months.
I would recommend this for anyone looking to upgrade an older power supply.
